Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you've noticed the explosion of innovative new real estate tech firms gaining traction in the marketplace. We wanted to highlight a few of our favorites from Silicon Alley that have really made their mark in the industry.
Nick Romito, View the Space
We have to give major props to Nick Romito, Founder and CEO of View the Space. He has managed to create a tool that streamlines and expedites the leasing process through HD video tours and analytics reports.
Nick was a former CRE broker who managed a 3mm square foot portfolio in NYC for over seven years. He identified a glitch in the brokerage system and was able to come up with a smart and profitable solution known as View the Space.
In a short time, Nick and his team raised over $650,000 to invest in View the Space and have leased out over 1.5 million square feet.

Michael Mandel, Compstak
As a former NYC CRE broker, Michael Mandel made a bold, but smart move to become a tech entrepreneur and launch Compstak.
Compstak gathers sought-after real estate information via a crow-sourced model that helps brokers, investors, appraisers, asset managers and economists make informed and intelligent business decisions.
The innovative company has been able to raise a hefty $4.45 million in Series A Financing from backers like Canaan Partners, 500 Startups, Founder Collective and Expansion VC.
Jonathan Wasserstrum, TheSquareFoot
Jonathan is a recent Columbia Business School grad turned CEO. His entrepreneurial spirit has suited him well as he now owns a fast-growing and successful CRE leasing tool, TheSquareFoot, which expedites the leasing process for both tenants and landlords.
The unique dashboard connects prospective tenants with landlords, brokers and other service providers to allow for easy searches, efficient marketing, and organized management system.

Benjamin Zises, RetailMLS
While working at highly regarded real estate firms, like Mogull Realty, Benjamin detected many inefficiencies associated with finding space in the retail market. He decided enough was enough and launched RetailMLS, an MLS service for retailers only.
If you need to find or list retail space, go to RetailMLS. Their easy-to-use and low cost platform really streamlines the approach of marketing and searching for retail space.
