Brit + Co., the do-it-yourself ecommerce site started by Google veteran Brit Morin, is expanding its offices in San Francisco. According to CompStak, the company signed a three-year lease for a 9,700-square-foot office near Union Square on 550 Sutter Street — moving the company down from its previous location in SoMa. Dubbed in the media as the Martha Stewart of Silicon Valley, Morin has gained notoriety in the tech world for her website, which is full of crafty ideas and provides project kits for sale. Morin also has been successful at promoting herself as the face of the brand, appearing repeatedly on the Today show to showcase a number of creative project ideas. Founded in late 2011, the company got its start at San Francisco’s TechShop, a membership-based workshop for do-it-yourselfers, and has now grown to 18 employees. In June, Brit + Co. nabbed $6.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Oak Investment Partners, supplementing $1.25 million it received in seed funding last year.
